Ahhh Beautiful Hawaii is one of the top tourist locations within the world. For good reason too! This group of islands provides beauty beyond compare and doesn’t need a passport for U.S. vacationers. It’s the 50th of the fifty states, but the culture here is so different it feels like you’re in a whole different place.
You can find eight principal islands to visit located in Hawaii’s archipelago: The Big Island (Hawaii), The Valley Isle (Maui), The Target Isle (Kahoolawe), The Pineapple Isle (Lanai), The Friendly Isle (Molokai), The Gathering Place (Oahu), The Garden Isle (Kauai) and The Forbidden Isle (Niihau).
The native Hawaiian language of the islands is amazingly beautiful to listen to, but Hawaii boasts two official languages. Both Hawaiian and English are spoken fluently here. Though use of the first has diminished through the years there has been a recent resurgence of the heritage. Educational facilities are found throughout the Hawaiian islands targeted at breathing life back into this rich and lovely tradition.
The highest of all the Hawaiian Islands is the Big Island with the Mauna Kea volcano which is officially documented 13,796 feet tall. Yet, if measurements from the very foundation of the mountain on the sea bottom were used you will discover a record setting 33,500 foot height. Amazing!
The weather condition found in Hawaii is fabulous all year round. It offers the typical climate patterns in a tropical locale. The trade winds, though, render the humidity lower than within similar tropical climates around the world. The islands basically just have two seasons, the dry season that occurs from May which last through October and the rainy months which will begin later in November and continues through March.
Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941, by air and sea, sinking or destroying a number of Navy warships and taking some 2400 lives. You will be able to tour and explore the actual location and also check out some of the old ships still there today.
Principal locations in Hawaii include Honolulu, South Point, Puunene, Omao, Makawao, Kalapana, Wailua and Wainiha. Each hold their own personal experience for travellers, although it would take more than one trip to the islands to take it all in.
The Hawaiian Islands have a number of specific culture groups who, over time, have come to call Hawaii home. To name a few, Polynesian, Japanese, Filipino, Korean, Chinese, German, English, Irish, Portuguese, Italian, African, French, Mexican, Scottish and Puerto Rican. Each have produced their own mark.
This brief description is not sufficient to do this tourist destination justice. A visit would be necessary to truly come to know Hawaii’s loveliness and heritage – just ask any person lucky enough to have vacationed on one of the Hawaiian islands.
